The maison for non-alcoholic premium wines!

Who They Are

Established in 2018 and based in Berlin, Germany Kolonne Null is owned by Philipp Roessle and Carolin Henrichfreise.

Operating with a clear mission to create the finest non-alcoholic wines Kolonne Null accomplishes this by respecting traditional craftsmanship while pushing the boundaries to create new innovative flavors and finishing concepts.

What makes Kolonne Null so special is that their aim is to bring the characteristics of the growing region, the grape and the winemakers into the bottle, so that they can transparently tell the story of each wine.

Telling The Story Of Their Wines

They accomplish this by creating their wines in co-production with award-winning family wineries. Close cooperation with their winemakers, uncompromising demands on the grape material and targeted development of the wines are their maxims.

Believing that you have to start with a great wine to finish with one, they carefully consider and inspect the delicate and subtle differences between the grapes and the wines they select for production. Only traditionally pressed and particularly aromatic vintage wines or cuvées of the highest quality are selected for their creations.

Their Winemaking Process

Research in their in-house laboratory lays the foundation for every creation. While extracting the alcohol they create something new, something that did not exist before: wine that is natural, low in calories and extraordinary in taste. Only the most brilliant compositions are dealcoholized on a larger scale and become part of the Kolonne Null collection.

No grape is left unturned as they set no geographical limits. This is why their collection includes wines from Germany, France and Spain.

Well beyond grape juice, this collection is comprised of elegant award winning non-alcoholic wines.

FAQS

  • Yes, KOLONNE NULL products still contain alcohol. However, with a maximum alcohol content of 0.3%, they are considered non-alcoholic and are well below the legal maximum of 0.5%.

For comparison: foods containing sugar or yeast can develop up to 0.6% Alc. (vol.) and thus have a higher alcohol content than their non-alcoholic wines.

  • Excellent non-alcoholic wine can only be made from very good base wines.

In order to bring only the best non-alcoholic wines to market, they work with their outstanding winemakers to refine the base wines and finalize their products in their own wine lab.

They invest a lot of time and resources in this detailed work. This makes them leaders in the field of non-alcoholic wines.

  • In their in-house Berlin wine lab, they dealcoholize selected top wines.

The alcohol is gently removed using vacuum distillation and replaced with a delicate amount of fine grape must leaving the essential aromas, acids, and vital phenols that make wine so enjoyable.

The must helps orchestrate the symphony between all of the fruits and aromas that leave the wonderful wine flavor completely intact.

The vacuum has the advantage that alcohol escapes at around 30°C.

They then receive their final refinement before being bottled.

These steps take place in close consultation between their beverage technologists and the respective winemakers in order to incorporate their expertise and style into their wines.
